As a marketing intern, I planned and managed multiple community events, cultivated authentic relationships with external stakeholders that drove environmentally-progressive change and contributed to projects that planted over 310,000 trees in the summer of 2019.
tentree is an environmentally-progressive lifestyle apparel brand that has leveraged its "10 trees planted per item" business model to plant over 50 million trees in 15 countries around the world. The company holds a 124.6 B Corp score and has a mission to plant 1 billion trees by 2030.
"Share a Dream, Plant a Tree" at Wanderlust Whistler
My experience activating local community initiatives brought the tentree story to new audiences and captured over 2,000 mailing list sign-ups while planting 4,000 trees to restore forests damaged by the BC wildfires.
The first-ever tentree warehouse sale
Generated a 25% ROI while planting 140,000 trees.
Collaborating with graphic designers, creatives, social media specialists, agencies, and local media, I took ownership of developing a marketing strategy that received a 30x Return on Ad Spend from the sale.
Presenting at TripLit Conference with tentree's Chief Marketing Officer
Invited by adventure photographer and conference host, Emmett Sparling (@emmett_sparling), tentree was asked to provide a workshop from the brand perspective on "Creating Content for Brands" that support their content marketing strategy.
Collaborating with tentree's Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer, Kalen Emsley (@kalenemsley), we developed a presentation and script for Kalen to present to the conference attendees.
We also gave free tentree swag to all the attendees so they had branded product to practice with and develop their portfolio!
I also had the opportunity to network and meet with some of my favourite content creators, including Chelsea Yamase (@chelseakauai) and Sam Kolder (@samkolder).
It was a surreal feeling to meet my social media idols in-person after following their charismatic characters online for years as I began my own photography journey.
Storytelling with the Content Team
As tentree launched a Brand Partnerships campaign with Stanley Park Brewing, I took the initiative to get involved with the Content Team by assisting them with pre-production scripting and storyboarding for the product launch campaign.
After transcribing 6+ hours of in-the-field interview audio, I gathered the critical talking points regarding the deforested areas that tentree was restoring with the sales of this product. Following, I sorted and arranged the videographer's footage from tentree's visit to the forest. The key communication points were spliced into a script with time-stamped audio markers with corresponding video frames.
The informational content in the interview has since been used as copy for press releases and other marketing initiatives.
